{"id":1205,"date":"2012-03-23T17:10:07","date_gmt":"2012-03-23T22:10:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/birdingnotes.sigridsanders.com\/?p=1205"},"modified":"2012-04-26T17:12:33","modified_gmt":"2012-04-26T22:12:33","slug":"a-female-common-yellowthroat-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/birdingnotes.sigridsanders.com\/?p=1205","title":{"rendered":"A Female Common Yellowthroat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the State Botanical Garden again, late this morning, from a thicket close to the river came the distinctive \u201cclicking marbles\u201d call of a Common Yellowthroat, a call something like a bright, sharp <em>tschick<\/em>. The bird was hidden somewhere deep in a dense tangle of shrubs, but continued to call, so I could follow it as it moved. Now and then I could see a rustle of leaves and vines where it was \u2013 and finally a female Common Yellowthroat came out into full view for several moments. A softer, less flamboyant version of the male, she was lovely \u2013 with no black mask, but a yellow throat and chest, pale belly, olive back and wings, and thin white eye-ring.<\/p>\n<p>It was especially fun to recognize the call, after not hearing it for some time now. My friends Marianne and David \u2013 who both taught me so much \u2013 were always very good at hearing it, but I was never quite sure until this morning, when I recognized it immediately.
