I was working inside when a Ruby-throated Hummingbird purred up to the window beside me and hung there just long enough to get my attention, then zipped away. I had already seen one a couple of days ago checking out the spot on the back deck where the feeder usually hangs, and not finding it there, and I think they\u2019ve probably been around for several days. But we\u2019ve been traveling and busy \u2013 and, and \u2013 I just hadn\u2019t gotten around to it.<\/p>\n<p>So \u2013 feeling more than a little guilty, I got out the feeder, cleaned it well, filled it with nectar and hung it outside. I didn\u2019t see a hummingbird come the rest of the day, but wasn\u2019t constantly watching, and I\u2019m sure it won\u2019t be long.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By mid-afternoon the weather was very hot and sunny.
